For Detailed Questions About Specific RFAs, Contact NIH
Your primary resource for questions about specific funding opportunities should be the NIH funding announcement and the Institute and Center contacts provided with each announcement. The NIH has given Institutes and Centers substantial flexibility in implementing the RFAs and not every Institute and Center is offering funding for each RFA. This means that details and requirements for each RFA differ depending on which Institute or Center is affiliated. Please make sure you read guidelines carefully. SPA is available to assist faculty and staff, but the primary resource for specific questions should be the Institute or Center contact provided.

How Information about Stimulus Funds is Distributed by the NIH
The NIH makes the "parent" announcement about how specific funds will be distributed, available at the NIH Funding Opportunities site. For example, the parent announcement about Administrative Supplements was NOT-OD-09-056. When applicable, the NIH announcement states that details about specific deadlines are found on Institute/Center websites. You must go to each institute or center website to find the specifics. For example, the NCRR announcement about their share of the administrative supplement funds is found on the NCRR website.
eRA Commons Registration Required to apply for NIH funding
To apply for NIH funding, you must have an Electronic Research Administration (ERA) Commons Identification Number. If you do not have an eRA Commons ID, contact the Sponsored Programs Administration Office at 212-263-8822 and they will create one for you. Every PI must have an individual Commons ID in order to apply for NIH funding. IDs are normally created the same day. The eRA Commons system facilitates the exchange of information between the NIH and applicant organizations. More information is available under the SPA Electronic Submissions, at and at the NIH eRA Commons page.
